Projects presented in the exhibition With the aid of draft sketches, material samples, construction plans, models, films, etc., eight selected projects will be presented - from the initial concept to the finished building - on eight large "tables". "Workplaces" equipped with design plans, books and computers with CD- ROM and CAD programmes will enable the visitor to conduct more detailed research. According to their specific interests, visitors can study individual projects more closely, follow up particular aspects such as the use of materials, the integration into the natural evironment and lighting, or print out construction plans and work on them. Centre Pompidou, Paris, France, 1971 - 1978 UNESCO Neighbourhood Workshop, Otranto, Italy, 1979 Menil-Collection, Houston, Texas, USA, 1981 - 1986 Internationale Kolumbus-Ausstellung, Genova, Italy, 1984 - 1992 Renovierung des Lingotto-Werks, Turin, Italy, 1983 - Kansai International Airport, Osaka, Japan, 1988 - 1994 Center for Culture J.M. Tjibaou, Nouméa, New Caledonia, 1991 Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, Germany, 1992 - A room called an Iconoscop with images projected on all four walls, will transport the visitor into a virtual building by Renzo Piano. The purpose of the exhibition is to pass on the experience which Renzo Piano has gathered through his building projects around the world. It is not intended to generate "admiration" but to stimulate active analysis. In so doing, it creates a living academy of architecture which has nothing academical about it. email: Lothar Altringer, Projektleiter |
