The conquest of the North and South Pole, the people of
the arctic region, artistic visions of icy wastes and the edge of the world are
topics of this exhibition. It pays detailed attention to scientific polar
research and places this in an overall cultural context through artistic
contributions. It examines inter alia the history of the discovery of the
Poles, the archaeology of mass migration and ice in its various manifestations.
The exhibition also looks at the medical aspects of both body and soul, the
food chain, flora and fauna, light phenomena, the magnetic Pole, and wind and
weather.
| A breathtaking multimedia show which has
been realised with the suppport of the Eurpean Commission takes the visitor to
the Poles where they are confronted with the latest findings of polar research.
An elaborate authentic installation brings the Northern Siberian Yamal culture
