Jizchak Katzenelson: Großer Gesang vom ausgerotteten jüdischen Volk ("The Great Song of the exterminated Jewish people") Reading in the Lounge by the actress Barbara Nüsse. Please note, that there has been a change: Instead of Barbara Nüsse, the actor Andreas Grothgar and Karin Hempel-Soos, director of the House of Language and Literature in Bonn will hold the reading! Katzenelson, a Jewish poet in Poland, was successfully smuggled out of the Warsaw Ghetto. Later, in the special concentration camp at Vittel, he wrote in Yiddish the "Great Song", a unique document of the Jewish people's ordeal and their resistance. Wolf Biermann's translation makes an extraordinary literary work and a great poet accessible to German-language readers.
