Exhibition Archives Since 1993 the archives of the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle collect and keep varied archive materials which are both available to staff and scholars. The archives document mainly exhibitions, events in the Forum and events organized by other institutions which are taking place in the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle as well as the hall's history. Since 1994 the archives have been using a special software in order to collect, preserve and develop documents by means of data processing. In addition, there is a collection containing newspaper articles on the subject art and culture, covering a time span from 1945 until 1982. At the beginning of 1999, the archives' databank contained already as many as 10.000 records which mirror the varied and remarkable culture programme of the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle. The archives' main collections are: Paper division (files, correspondence, invitations, exhibition catalogues etc.) Poster collection (poster from exhibitions and other events) Arrangement plans (architecture of exhibitions and position of exhibits) Photo archives (photographs, slides, installations, of the architecture of the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle etc.) Video and sound archives (documentation of exhibitions and events) Especially the video archives are of high interest. They contain numerous TV productions which were produced in cooperation with major TV stations like the WDR, SAT1, SAT2, ARD and ZDF. Visitors who would like to use the archives, are able to do research at the archives' data bank located in the reading room of the library. Visitors are asked to make a reservation.
