INTERNATIONAL FILM MUSIC BIENNAL 1999
7 - 16 June 1999

This year the International Film Music Biennial in Bonn will take place for the third time. Since the 80s the economic and cultural significance of soundtracks has steadily increased. The event, which focuses on the the International Prize for Film and Media Music, reminds us once again of the ever growing importance of music and sound design in the audiovisual media.
With screenings during the competition, with selections from the programme of "Young European Film Music", and with retrospectives, workshops, film music concerts plus a series of premières, the International Film Music Biennial offers an unparalleled meeting point for all those who are engaged in the field of film and music. The manager of The Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Art and Exhibition Centre Germany), Dr. Wenzel Jacob, will inaugurate the well-known Museumsmeilenfest (Festival of the Mile of Museums) during a concert by world-star Shirley Bassey. Her title songs "Goldfinger" and "Diamonds are forever" are milestones of 20th century film music.
