Mikis Theodorakis: Alexis Sorbas Ballett Suite

In the 1960s, Mikis Theodorakis' film music to Alexis Sorbas reawakened listeners' longing for Greece. And many people still see visions of Anthony Quinn when they hear the Sirtaki. In 1988, using his composition for this film as starting point, Mikis Theodorakis wrote his Alexis Sorbas Ballet Suite, which premiered in the Arena di Verona. It was Theodorakis' wish for this work to be performed in Bonn by the best young German musicians. The Federal Youth Orchestra, an association of young, highly-gifted, instrumentalists from throughout the country and the NRW State Youth Choir, its North-Rhine Westphalian counterpart, will be performing the ballet suite, with Antigone Papoulkas, one of the most excellent young German artists, as soloist.

Admission: € 18.- / reduced rate € 10 (from the advance booking office plus advance booking charge)
